Wenn ich ein Deutscher ware… contains photographs of a performance by Rapid Response, an artists’ group which was founded in the early 1990s by Mikhailov, his wife Vita, and fellow Ukranian artists Sergei Bratkov and Sergei Solonskij. The performance was based on interviews with Ukranian citizens who had lived through German occupation during World War II and who relayed their experiences of that time. The artists acted out scenarios which explored how they may have behaved had they been the occupying soldiers. Item #12515
