Celebrating the unique fashion sensibility of fearless young women, a generation of girls have grown up with Valerie Phillips’s work pinned on their bedroom walls. Over the past fifteen years she has produced numerous self published zines and small volumes obsessed with female youth culture. In this personally curated volume, Phillips has selected her best work from her own publications as well as images from editorials, advertising, and music albums. The result is an honest portrait of young woman subverting the normalcy of beauty courtesy of Phillips’ ‘undiluted’ method, as she calls it, which prefers to present women as they are – whether that's body hair on display, occasionally unwashed or without make up. “People have always thought the girls and women in my pictures are younger than they are, because they are usually having a good time. They don’t look overly groomed, bored or depressed the way women are portrayed in most fashion imagery.” . Item #16644
