Japanese photographer, Seiichi Furuya, left Japan for Austria in the mid 1970s, finally settling in Graz where he met his life partner, Christine Gössler in 1978. Tragically she developed schizophrenia and ultimately committed suicide in East Berlin in 1985. Furuya has published several astounding books on their life together and her suicide. In 2018, he began to archive her own photographs taken with simple 35mm cameras and discovered many portraits of himself, taken at the same time that he was photographing her. Item #20392
