Primarily shot and produced during the 2020 lockdowns with some portraits done remotely, Belgian artist Peter de Potter in the sequel to his 2016 book The Vanity of Certain Flowers explores the idea of retreat. De Potter who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp first became known in the early 2000s for his collaborations with fashion designer Raf Simons. As a consultant as well as providing artwork, he also designed and art directed Simons' book Redux, as well as the Raf Simons 'Repeat' installation for Pitti Immagine in 2005. His signature deconstructed composition, a blend of graphic design, collage and photography using a combination of found, archive or discarded visuals, stitching together multimedia graphics with text to create a post-internet aesthetic rooted in Tumblr and Instagram.
