In 1966 an incredible sixty acres of mostly nineteenth-century buildings were slated for demolition, all below Canal Street in order to make room for the Twin Towers and other major developments. With a commission fron the NY State Council for the Arts Danny Lyon documented the wholesale elimination of Manhattan's oldest and most historic neighborhood. Item #2130
