Toshiteru Yamaji started taking photographs in the 1960s while working for the Marugame municipal government in Japan’s Shikoku region, mainly at farms. The work connected him with Hiroshi Kamimura, a pig farmer. After retiring in 1997, Yamaji continued to take pictures of Kamimura for about ten years. His images give an intimate and heartfelt glimpse of a man whose dedication and kindness to the animals in his care became a lifelong passion. According to him, raising pigs with love every day not only gives them a good life but also provides the best quality pork. A text by Hitsuko, his daughter, fondly remembers her father, who passed away after a struggle with cancer. Japanese/English Text. Item #22026
