Part of the Hanuman series. Hanuman Books was founded by American art critic Raymond Foye and artist, Francesco Clemente in 1986. Btw '86 and '93 they published 50 books by contemporary figures in avant garde cultural in a small format to resemble Indian prayer books, named after the Hindu monkey god. Clemente was responsible for crafting logo, and also conceptualised the overall design. Books were printed on a letterpress at C.T. Nachiappan's Kalakshetra Press in Madras. The pages were sewn together by local fishermen and others. The books were distributed on an informal basis from the Chelsea Hotel. Item #26002
