Catalogue for the second exhibition at the Fotomuseum in the Hague. The first published in 2005 is produced in the same format but quickly went out of print and is fast becoming a collectible classic. Both books are produced as oversized soft covers on an uncoated paper stock that enhances the rough-and-ready quality of Fieret’s work. Using a multitude of techniques from solarization, fogging and high contrast to odd crops. This playful experimental approach to the print-making is also central to his photography. There is a certain sense of awkwardness to his encounters with women in his hometown of the Hague (his main subject). The models are entirely engaged in the process, posing and often staring back at us but it is Fieret’s ability to capture an unpolished moment in the chaos of his studio or the street that gives his work its’ freshness.
