Sassen used Polaroids in the traditonal way before the widespread adoption of digital photography as a way to assess an image before committing to film or as sketches like drawings before a painting. This book is compiled of Polaroids made in Africa between 2002 and 2010 a large part of the work that makes up her first highly acclaimed monograph, Flamboya. Item #9870
