Air Afrique signing with Djiby Kebe & Ahmadou-Bamba Thiam

Air Afrique is a parisian based multidisciplinary art network named after the eponymous pan-African airline : co-owned by 11 Sub-Saharan African countries and operational between 1961 and 2002, Air Afrique was an important expression of post-colonialist and pan-African ideals. Fueled by the spirit of the independencies, the airline became a major patron of African arts and culture throughout the second half of the 20th century.

Published in French and English, Air Afrique Magazine is led by the airline’s cultural vision, and is the heir to its in-flight magazine Balafon, which was distinguished by its ability to highlight the cultural and historical diversity of the African continent. Air Afrique Magazine combines this ethos with sharp and precise aesthetics designed to inspire cross-border creativity and discussion. The magazine features archival material from the airline’s cultural patronage alongside a compendium of knowledge, conversations and contemporary cultural expression from afro-diasporic artists, writers and thinkers.

The Air Afrique collective consists of founder Lamine Diaoune, co-founders Djiby Kebe and Jeremy Konko and editor Ahmadou-Bamba Thiam. Djiby Kebe & Ahmadou-Bamba Thiam will be here to sign copies for the launch at Dashwood.
