Performance of UNTITLED by Daisuke Yokota at Dashwood Books

Saturday, May 02, 2015 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Please join us for a performance by Daisuke Yokota outside Dashwood Books Saturday May 2 at 4pm and 5pm.
One of the most exciting young talents to emerge from Tokyo is photographer Daisuke Yokota. His work was exhibited as a solo show in Foam, Amsterdam, as the recipient of the first annual Paul Hof Award. In this performance, the photographer applies acetic acid to his images that have been screen-printed onto a layer of brass. The resulting chemical reaction produces discoloration, modifying the image. This process is a extension of this typical working process of photographing and rephotographing, working and reworking his images, adding layers of alteration and distortion. This embrace of chance operation generates unique iterations by allowing the photographer to modify each print individually.
