Dashwood Books signing for Ultimate Clothing Company by Alasdair McLellan
Tuesday, Apr 22, 2014 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Alasdair McLellan began to photograph in 1986, aged 12. McLellan grew up in South Yorkshire on a diet of kitchen sink drama through films, literature and pop music as well as in his own life; he had romantic notions of being English and Northern and wanted to show it. One of his most admired heroes was musician Steven Patrick Morrissey, his unfaltering melancholy and mythological observations of England played a huge influence in McLellan's work. McLellan's work maintains both the edginess of these influences as well as the unashamedly lyrical pulse which makes this work a tune for the masses. The Ultimate Clothing Company is anintimate and introspective monograph edited and designed by art directors Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag M/M (PARIS) and beautifully printed in a numbered limited edition of 2,000 with a poster-wrap dust jacket.
