Helena Goñi reception for Soft Bound
Thursday, Sep 11, 2025 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location:
Dashwood Projects
Soft Bound, a new exhibition by Helena Goñi at Dashwood Projects, presents garments created through a process that merges shibari—the Japanese practice of rope bondage—with cyanotype, one of photography’s earliest printing techniques. By coating fabric with light-sensitive emulsion, tying it to the body, and exposing it to sunlight, Goñi records both rope marks and bodily folds, transforming clothing into a photographic surface. The works revisit the relationship between photography and bondage imagery while foregrounding the perspective of the bound body. The exhibition features a curatorial text by Luis Juárez.
Reception: Thursday, September 11, 6–8PM
On view: September 10–18
